This is one of a series of books (Never Touch a Spider/ Dinosaur/ Shark/ Monster/ Dragon etc.). 'Never Touch a Crocodile' has the clearest pictures and backgrounds that I've found so far, but I've only checked out the titles listed here, so worth doing some investigating for yourself if your child enjoys this book.

All of the images have different tactile patches, which are interesting to the touch, but are all in rubber, so bear little resemblance to what they are representing. The text is lively and fun but unlikely to win any awards. Text format itself would be very unsuitable for early-readers.
